The shirt numbers of Spain's World Cup squad have been announced.
Spain World Cup Squad Numbers Announced
Spain released their squad list complete with shirt numbers a couple of days ago. Some long-serving players retain their regular numbers like Jordi Alba (18), Sergio Busquets (5) and Alvaro Morata (7), while Dani Carvajal returns to the number 20 and Cesar Azpilicueta takes the number 2.
Marcos Asensio has been given the honour of being Spain's number 10 for the tournament, which comes a s a bit of a shock after young Barcelona star Pedri had worn the shirt earlier this year. Instead, he has the more dubious honour of being among the first crop of players to wear the number 26 at a World Cup, while his clubmate Gavi gets the more illustrious number 9.
The number 15 jersey belonged to Sergio Ramos for over 15 years, but his exclusion from the squad means it will have a new wearer, and that man is Hugo Guillamon. The other "new" numbers, 24 and 25, go to Aymeric Laporte and Ansu Fati. Full list below.
