Big Changes: Chelsea Announce 23-24 Squad Numbers

For the second consecutive transfer window, Chelsea have been extremely busy. A raft of both departures and arrivals has meant a shake-up to their squad numbers, which were announced today. All the new signings have received their numbers and quite a few players who were already with the club have changed from what they wore last season.

23-24 Chelsea Squad Numbers

First of all, we'll take a look at what numbers the newest recruits will be wearing. Starting in defence, new keeper Robert Sanchez has gone for number 31. Centre back Axel Disasi will wear the 2 shirt. Malo Gusto, who signed in January but remained on loan at Lyon until now, will wear the number 27. Young midfielders Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu will wear number 20 and number 16 respectively.

New strike pairing Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have both opted for numbers in the teens, choosing 15 and 18 respectively. Looks like they're both aware of the fate that has befallen most of Chelsea's number 9s.

With plenty of players shipped out of Stamford Bridge this summer, lots of numbers were up for grabs, and some existing squad members took their chance for an upgrade. Raheem Sterling has switched from 17 to 7, Mudryk from 15 to 10, and Enzo Fernandez from 5 to 8.

Noni Madueke has opted for the number 11 shirt ahead of the new campaign. Marc Cucurella will wear 3; Benoit Badiashile 5; Carney Chukwuemeka 17; and Armando Broja has switched to 19. Academy graduate Levi Colwill follows in John Terry's footsteps by picking the number 26. Young Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen has joined up with the first team and will wear the number 29. Check out the list in full below.

Any surprising choices in there? Is Enzo a worthy heir to Frank Lampard's number 8? What about Mudryk taking the number 10? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
