Manchester United have just confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the iconic number seven shirt following his return to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo takes over the number from Edinson Cavani, who in turn switches to number 21, left free after Daniel James transfer out. It's a bit of a surprise since it's usually not allowed for players to change numbers after having already worn them in an official match in the same season - and Cavani did wear the number seven shirt in the away win at Wolves last weekend.

'CR7' already wore the special shirt, which was once sported by club legends George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham, during his first stay with Manchester United during 2003 and 2009.
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his debut at home to Newcastle United on Saturday, September 11, and his new shirt is already available to buy at our partner Kitbag, who also operate the official Manchester United online store.
