Man Utd vs Man City - Manchester Derby Football Boot Preview

Updated with the final lineups.

The first Manchester Derby of the season, the giant match up between Manchester United and Manchester City, and likely the biggest match in today's English football, is only one day away. But not only that, it's also the meeting between arch rivals Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, who both joined Manchester's biggest clubs ahead of the new season.

It's the first time that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba will take part in the Manchester Derby, and while the latter is sponsored by Adidas and will therefore be heavily promoted by the Three Stripes, Zlatan is still lacing up in Nike Mercurial boots, despite the fact he launched his own sportswear brand (called A-Z) earlier this summer.

Apart from that, it's interesting to see that smaller brands like New Balance and Puma secured players from the two Manchester clubs, a stark contrast to matches such as last season's El Clásico where only Adidas and Nike boots were seen on the pitch.

In terms of unique boot choices, there are expected to be no big surprises as Wayne Rooney will only receive his new signature boots once he scores four more goals to become Man Utd's all-time top goalscorer with 250 goals, while Memphis Depay, who is the only player in the match who received a signature boot recently, is not expected to start the match.
