Since his Puma contract ended in 2019, Hector Bellerin has worn his fair share of different brands without signing a deal with any of them. Is he about to finally sign a new boot contract with Adidas?
Bellerin's Many Boot Brands
Bellerin was once an important player for Puma, featuring in many ad campaigns as well as being central to Arsenal kit launches during that era. His time with them came to an end in 2019 and for a while, it seemed he was set to join Adidas, as he was regularly lacing up in their X 99.1 boots.
That dalliance only lasted about 6 months, with the Spaniard then switching to Nike Mercurials and occasionaly, Premiers, prompting talk of him signing with the Swoosh, but there was more change to come. After a brief spell wearing the Puma King x Kid Super boots, he started wearing Mizuno boots in the 20-21 season and has stuck with them ever since, wearing various models last season with Real Betis. He has also openly worn sneakers from Nike and Reebok during his spell with Betis, suggesting that there is no deal in place with Mizuno.
Adidas Deal in the Works?
Now though, the man himself has posted photos to his Instagram account from an Adidas event as part of the Primavera music festival in Barcelona. He is pictured wearing Adidas Originals sweatpants in one photo and an Adidas x Pharell Williams Human Race hoodie with an Adidas cap in another. Also present in the photos are his Real Betis team mates and seemingly best friends at the club, Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal, both of whom are Adidas athletes. A few weeks ago the same trio celebrated their Copa del Victory in style with vintage Betis shirts.
This marks the first time that Bellerin has taken part in any kind of promotional event from a sportswear brand since his days as a Puma player, which could be a sign that a new deal is on the horizon. However, he seems to enjoy the freedom to wear whatever brands he wants and is own of very few footballers who actually has his own sense of style, rather than the generic tastes of his peers. It will be interesting to see both where he ends up playing football next season and what will be on his feet when that time rolls around.
Do you think we will soon see Bellerin kitted out exclusively in Adidas gear? Or will he choose to remain unrestricted by the terms of a brand deal? Let us know in the comments.
