The Syrian soccer federation has changed the national team’s kit and logo from red to green following the toppling of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime by rebels.

This historic move comes as the capital, Damascus, was seized without resistance, marking the end of Assad’s 13-year civil war and his family’s six-decade rule. The federation celebrated the change as a step away from corruption and favoritism.
