Adidas "Takes Over" Premier League

Update: As we reported on Monday night, the Adidas Liverpool kit deal has been signed and the Adidas Liverpool 25-26 kits are ready. As of today, this means that Adidas will be producing kits for eight Premier League teams in the 25-26 season, just two short of the half.

In the 25-26 season, Adidas could supply kits for even more than eight teams - if Leeds United is promoted (the only team Adidas sponsors in the Championship) or if Adidas signs more EPL clubs. However, with eight teams in its current 25-26 line-up, there is always the risk that at least one Adidas team will be relegated.

However, for Adidas, eight teams are not a record. The 3 stripes made the kits for nine teams in the 2013-14 season. Back then, Adidas' line-up was much weaker and featured only one top club - Chelsea. The biggest dominance of any brand in the Premier League was in the first-ever Premier League season, when Umbro supplied 50% (11 of the 22 teams).

Adidas has reached its leading position in the Premier League by signing back-to-back kit deals with Newcastle United and Aston Villa. In addition, the return of Leicester City helps Adidas increase its sponsorship from 4 to 7 teams in the 24-25 Premier League.

Not only that, Adidas has also signed an agreement to supply Liverpool's jerseys from the 25-26 season, replacing Nike.

We see 7 brands in Premier League 24-25: Adidas, Nike, Umbro, Puma, Castore, Macron and the all-new Sudu. This is 1 less than in Premier League 23-24. Adidas is the most represented brand with 7 teams (35%), followed by Nike and Umbro with 4 teams each (20%/brand), Puma with 2 teams (10%). Smaller brands include: Castore, Macron and Sudu all have one team.
