Adidas "Takes Over" Premier League

Update: As we reported on Monday night, the Adidas Liverpool kit deal has been signed and the Adidas Liverpool 25-26 kits are ready. As of today, this means that Adidas will be producing kits for eight Premier League teams in the 25-26 season, just two short of the half.

In the 25-26 season, Adidas could supply kits for even more than eight teams - if Leeds United is promoted (the only team Adidas sponsors in the Championship) or if Adidas signs more EPL clubs. However, with eight teams in its current 25-26 line-up, there is always the risk that at least one Adidas team will be relegated.

However, for Adidas, eight teams are not a record. The 3 stripes made the kits for nine teams in the 2013-14 season. Back then, Adidas' line-up was much weaker and featured only one top club - Chelsea. The biggest dominance of any brand in the Premier League was in the first-ever Premier League season, when Umbro supplied 50% (11 of the 22 teams).

Massive thanks to Football Kit Archive for the great infographics - there is no other website nearly as good for kit research.
