Following the teaser on social media earlier this week, Spanish sportswear brand Joma has officially detailed its major new partnership with goalkeeper David de Gea. He currently plays for Fiorentina.
Not only is the former Manchester United shot-stopper officially joining the brand's roster, but Joma has also announced that De Gea will be the flagship face of their Striker soccer cleats.
Joma's Push into Elite Football?
According to the official press release, the signing of the Spanish international marks a "new stage" for Joma, as the brand aims to drastically strengthen its position in the elite professional football market. But as always with these press releases, the next few months and years will show off if Joma actually signs a notable amount of popular players.
The partnership is built on a shared philosophy between the brand and the player: "Work in silence. Let success make the noise."
De Gea's move to Joma officially ends his long-standing relationship with Adidas, signaling a major statement of intent from the Spanish brand, which has a rich history in football dating back to 1965 and is famous for introducing the "Color in football" revolution.
Joma Striker Boot
To coincide with the signing of De Gea, Joma has officially lifted the 2026 edition of the Striker (which is a minimal update of the 2025). It looks pretty good - like a mix of Adidas (sole plate) and Nike (upper) Elite boots - but for 100 euros less.
Joma Striker - Tech Features:
- Next-Generation Microfiber Upper: Engineered for maximum lightness and long-lasting durability.
- One Piece Design: A completely seamless upper construction designed to reduce friction and provide a cleaner, closer touch on the ball. Sock System: A modern, ergonomic collar fit that provides breathability and comfortable lockdown around the ankle.
- Synthetic Fiber Outsole: A newly developed soleplate built for enhanced responsiveness, traction, and stability on the pitch.
