Italian brand Macron yesterday announced a kit supplier deal with Scottish club Dundee United FC. Macron replaces Nike as Dundee United kit maker, who had been making Dundee United's kit for nine years.
The Tangerines are currently second place in the Scottish Championship, Scotland's second division.
Macron Announces 4-Year Dundee United Kit Deal
The new partnership will begin on 1 June 2019, valid for four seasons. This means that Macron will make the Dundee United FC kits for the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
The club also announced that the structure of the deal will allow it to take the retail sector back in-house as it seeks to increase the merchandise options available for fans. The deal will see a brand new exclusive retail website created to work alongside the official site in response to the ongoing fan consultation process driven by the Supporter Liaison Group (SLG).
Andrea Palilla, UK Country Manager for Macron, said: "We are delighted to announce the partnership with a club of the history and heritage of Dundee United Football Club. It’s an exciting moment for Macron, and we are very much looking forward to working with the Management team and engaging with the fans as they are at the core of our thinking as a business.
"We will work very hard alongside United to design smart, modern and unique kits which we hope will inspire the team and the fans to great performances in what promises to be an exciting future for Dundee United.”
Mal Brannigan, Dundee United's Managing Director, said: "We would like to welcome Macron to Dundee United. After a detailed tender process with several reputable brands, Macron was the clear best fit for our plans moving forward.
"We looked at various styles of partnership and securing such an innovative technical partner while taking the retail sector back under our control was a vital part of our forward strategy. Our fans will also benefit from a bespoke range of kits alongside Macron's stunning range of apparel."
"The Club is delighted with the commitment Macron has shown to Dundee United, and we look forward to working with the brand for the foreseeable future."
"I would also like to thank Just Sport and Nike for their efforts and support over the past nine seasons. The 2009/2010 Centenary Scottish Cup winning kit will forever be a large part of our Club's history.”
