Adidas will not sell their brand-new 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup jerseys in Men's sizes, it has been confirmed. This stands in stark contrast to their arch rivals Nike.
Nike Sells Women's 2019 Jerseys In Men's Sizes, Adidas Does Not
After Adidas presented the new Germany 2019 Women's World Cup jerseys, many male German fans wanted to get their hands on the stunning new jersey. However, the kit is only available in Women's sizes on Adidas' website, and there won't be Men's versions available.
According to Adidas, this has nothing to do with discrimination, but is primarily based on economic considerations. "So far, demand on the consumer side has actually been too low," says Brüggen. "The feedback is consistently positive - from both female and male fans. A nice confirmation for the work of our designers".
Unlike Adidas, Nike will be selling their 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup jerseys in Men's sizes and cuts. In fact, when the Australia 2019 WWC went on pre-sale, Men's sizes were sold out extremely fast.
Interestingly, for each jersey of the Men's German national football team, Adidas also made a special version for Women's.
There is a Men's version of the Scotland WWC away kit available, but no Men's version of the home (away is standard teamwear...).
So, for example, in the DFB-Shop fans can find the jersey of the women's national team (top left) and the women's version of the men's jersey (bottom right). A men's version of the women's jersey is not available.
