Leipzig Players Wore "Wrong" Shirts vs Tottenham - No Punishment By UEFA

Update: German football magazine Kicker has asked UEFA if Leipzig would get a punishment for their kit 'fail'. There won't be any disciplinary proceedings - "No disciplinary proceedings have been opened in this regard," UEFA announced in response to a request from kicker.

RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku and Timo Werner caught the attention of viewers during their club's visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night by wearing shirts with a different sponsor logo than their team-mates.

Wearing their colorful 2019-20 Champions League kit, the two attackers had a monochrome Red Bull logo on the front, which is the default look for this particular kit, while the rest of the Leipzig squad had the full-color branding on theirs.

Funnily enough, both players switched to the 'mainstream' option for the second half, while Lukas Klostermann, who played at the right side of defense, swapped his full-color sponsor shirt for one with the monochrome white one.

After the match, Julian Nagelsmann explained the reason behind this mix-up. According to the visiting manager, a box of shirts got lost at the airport, leading to an incomplete set of shirts.

However, some social media users where quick to launch conspiracy theories and claim it was all a marketing stunt. This will be difficult to prove.

Earlier today, we learned that the monochrome version was the one registered with UEFA, which is not surprising as it's the one that was launched and also used in previous matches this campaign.
