AC Milan and Inter Choose Final Design for "New San Siro"

After years of deliberation, it looks like the design of the new stadium for AC Milan and Inter has finally be chosen.

It's the 'Cathedral' design, created by the Populous architectural studio and set to replace the iconic San Siro, which has aged badly.

The new stadium will have a capacity of 65,000 and should replace San Siro once constructions finish in 2027.

Nicknamed 'The Cathedral', the design takes inspiration from two of Milan's most iconic buildings, the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

"The Cathedral's bespoke seating bowl will be the most intimate in Europe, bringing fans closer to the action than ever before and creating an unforgettable atmosphere." - official announcement.

An interesting feature of the new stadium will be the outside, with installations that allow for great visual changes depending on who's hosting the match.

"For Inter Milan, a coiled viper of blue light wraps itself around the stadium; while for AC Milan, the vertical buttresses glow a smoldering red emanating from the depths of the building."

The final plans for the new stadium are set to be presented in 2022.
