On May 8 1898, Genoa CFC was the winner of the first-ever football tournament in Italy when they won a knock-out tournament in Turin involving three teams from Turin and Genoa CFC. Founded in 1893, Genoa Cricket and Football Club is the oldest soccer club in Italy and won the Serie A nine times.

Lotto uses the St. George's cross instead of the club logo for the new special Genoa CFC Kit. Under the St. George's cross is the lettering "Primi campioni d'Italia" (which translates to "First Italian champions"). On the back of the neckline will be the date 1893 to honor the founding year of the oldest Italian football club, while inside the neckline are the years when Genoa won their nine Serie A titles.
