Van Dijk's Made In Italy Nike Tiempo Got Dirty Very Fast - Here Is Why

On Monday, Nike released the classy Made in Italy Nike Tiempo Legend football boots. The cleats were debuted by Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk and Jordan Henderson on Tuesday. The boots already looked very dirty towards the end of "their" first match - let us find out why.

Non-Dyed - Nike Tiempo Legend Made in Italy Feature Natural Alegria leather Color

Like Pirlo's Nike Tiempo cleats from 2006, the Nike Tiempo Legend 2022 special-edition football boots are made from premium Alegria leather. Nike decided to not dye the boots - they feature a natural light grey color of Alegria leather.

It remains to be seen if the boots can be perfectly cleaned

However, because Nike did not dye the cleats, they began looking dirty very fast. When Jordan Henderson was subbed off in the 70th minute, the upper looked dark grey in touch areas.

What is also very interesting is that we can see which parts are made of Alegria leather and which are made of synthetic materials thanks to the dirt. Alegria leather is used for the touch parts only - the heel area is made from synthetic leather, and did not get dirty.

Of course, the not-dyed upper did not influence the performance of the Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Made in Italy boots. It remains to be seen if Van Dijk and Jordan Henderson will manage to completely clean their boots for the next match.
