Update: According to Samuel Luckhurst, Varane initially requested number four, which Phil Jones "refused to give up".
Earlier today Manchester United played their first competitive match of the season against Leeds United, but before the first match even started Raphaël Varane's transfer was made official. Varane joins from Real Madrid for a reported fee of £40m. The 28-year old signed a four-year deal.
Surprisingly, Varane entered the pitch just before kick-off which led to an electric atmosphere inside Old Trafford. To top it off, United won a very entertaining match against rivals Leeds 5-1.
