Update: On Thursday, it was officially announced that Daniel Carvajal, the right-back for Real Madrid, has switched from Nike to Puma. The 31-year-old will now be wearing Puma Future football boots, ending his career-long association with Nike.
Spanish defender Daniel Carvajal is set to become the latest athlete to leave Nike for Puma. Carvajal's move follows the likes of Neymar, Kai Havertz, and Jack Grealish, who all made the switch from Nike to Puma.
After Whole Career With Nike: Carvajal Becomes Latest Player to Switch from Nike to Puma
Carvajal was spotted wearing the latest Puma Ultra Ultimate colorway in today's training session, just three days after wearing branded Nike Phantom GX boots during the EURO qualifying match against Norway. The move probably marks the end of Carvajal's long-term partnership with Nike, which began even before he turned professional.
The switch to Puma comes as the German sportswear brand continues to ramp up its efforts to compete with Nike and Adidas in the soccer market. Puma have been aggressively signing top athletes in the sport, while Nike have put more of their focus on the women's game.
