Following the spectacular pre-match catwalk and official release of the Nike FC Barcelona 2005-06 remake kit yesterday afternoon, the hype for the launch has been massive. However, luckily for fans, the kit is not as limited as originally expected.
Fans and collectors were panicking over a report by Barça kit insider @memorabilia1899 that only 7,000 units of the legendary retro jersey were produced worldwide. However, the kit is not very limited.
The "7,000 Units" Rumor Explained
While the highly sought-after remake is completely sold out at the official Barça Store following yesterday's matchday launch, the widespread 7,000 number was misunderstood.
That figure apparently only represented the specific stock allocation given to the official FC Barcelona club stores - not the total global production run from Nike.
Where to Still Buy the Barça 05-06 Remake
Good news for fans who missed out at the stadium: you do not have to pay exorbitant aftermarket resale prices just yet.
Because the total production run is much higher than initially rumored, the Barcelona 2005-06 re-edition is still readily available at several independent football retailers. Furthermore, Nike is still holding stock of the shirt in some sizes on their official website, even though the most common sizes are not available.
Nike FC Barcelona 05-06 Remake Availability
- Barça Store: Sold Out (The rumored ~7,000 unit allocation)
- Nike.com: Available (in select sizes)
- Independent Retailers: Available
You can search for Nike's official Product Numbers (HQ1462-471, HQ1461-471) to find a store selling the kit online.
