Borussia Mönchengladbach has to find a new main sponsor for the season 2020-21 - German bank "Postbank" will cease its main sponsorship with the German club at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Postbank has been Borussia's main and jersey sponsor since July 2009. In April 2014, the sponsoring agreement was extended ahead of schedule until 2020. Borussia Mönchengladbach receives estimated 6.5 million Euro from Postbank. In the case of sporting successes, such as participation in the European Cup, up to 7.5 million Euro are going to the club.

Gladbach To Get New Main Sponsor For 2020-21 Season
"From summer 2020, Postbank will no longer be our main sponsor," Guido Uhle, Borussia's authorized signatory and sponsoring director, is quoted on the association's homepage. The step came as no surprise for the club, "after all, we at Borussia heard the news about developments at the DB Privat- und Firmenkundenbank, whose branch Postbank has been since 2018.
Uhle commented: "Negotiations with Postbank for an extension were concluded. It was the express wish of both sides to continue this partnership. But as an association, we understand and respect Postbank's decision, which unfortunately came about due to cost pressure from Deutsche Bank."
The development will not have any impact on the season now beginning. "The contract with Postbank expires in summer 2020. Until then, the main sponsor will be the reliable and trustworthy partner on Borussia's side, which it has been since 2009," says Uhle.
Postbank has been the ninth Borussia shirt sponsor in history. The search for number ten is now underway. "We are entering this exploratory phase quite openly. There is a market for Borussia. We are interesting for many companies," explains Uhle. "It is our clear goal to find a partner who fits the philosophy and values that Borussia stands for and who is interested in a long-term and sustainable partnership.
