Manchester City's decision to wear their third kit in the EFL Cup clash against Southampton caused an uproar from football fans on social media.
Man City's 2-0 loss against the Saints in that match was not the only thing that made the headline. Apparently, their kit choice also cause an uproar among fans on social media, who were watching the game on television or other electronic devices.
Knowing that Southampton were wearing their red and white home jersey with black shorts, Pep Guardiola's side opted to use their volt and black third kit instead of their regular home ones.

Although being viewed up close, the Saints and City kits were different but for those watching it on the television, there seems to be a clash of colors.
Those who were watching that game on TV or any other electronic device certainly did not have a pleasant experience viewing it.

Many fans were expressing their complaints on Twitter, questioning why Man City decided to wear their third jersey in that game, while showing their viewing experience on TV.
One fan tweeted, "Who’s idea was it to wear the third kit? It’s clashing with Southampton more than our home kit would."
Another also wrote, "Am I the only person that thinks this Man City and Southampton game is an awful kit clash on tv?"
Different kit choice incoming? Manchester City will play a second time away against Southampton this season
In the Premier League home match earlier this season, Manchester City wore the blue home kit vs Southampton's military green third kit. It remains to be seen if Manchester City will again wear their third kit when they face Southampton away in the Premier League in early April 2023.
In the end, The Citizen's decision to wear the third kit seems to backfire for them as they lose 2-0 while putting on a poor display.
It's not the first time this season that City play with that third kit though as they also use it in previous Premier League matches against West Ham, Aston Villa, Leicester City, and Liverpool.
