Some weeks ago, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Chinese real estate group Evergrande could replace Pirelli as Inter owner Zhang Jindong chases revenue growth opportunities for Inter. Now Corriere dello Sport reports that Inter Milan are in negotiations with current shirt sponsor Pirelli as they look to secure a lucrative new deal from 2021.
Inter Milan To Replace Iconic Pirelli Kit Sponsor With Evergrande
Pirelli has been Inter's main sponsor since the 1995/96 season.
Deal Not Considered Imminent - Gap Between What Inter Milan Wants & Pirelli Is Willing To Pay
Inter Milan's current deal with main shirt sponsor Pirelli is set to expire in less than two years, in Summer 2021. The current Inter Milan Pirelli current deal brings in an estimated €10.5 million per year. Inter believe a team of their stature should be earning a fee more in line with Europe’s other top clubs
According to Correire dello Sport, the Inter values their main shirt sponsor at around €25 million, rising to €30 million with bonuses. Pirelli is willing to increase the amount it pays the club, but there remains a gap between the two parties’ valuations. A deal is not considered imminent.
If an agreement can not be reached, everything indicates that Evergrande will then sponsor Internazionale. The company’s electric car brand, Hengda Hengchi, is already reportedly set to sign a new sponsorship deal with Inter worth €100 million.
