The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) want to renegotiate their sponsorship deal with Nike, it has been revealed by CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues in an interview with Globoesporte.
Brazil Nike Deal Valid Until 2026 - CBF President Want Also Sale Royalties
The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, says that Brazil's deal with Nike is outdated and that he seeks a review of the agreement.
Brazil reportedly get guarantees of about US$ 35.5 million per year from Nike. As revealed by their president, they do not get any royalties for sales from Nike.
“Almost five years since I had a Nike meeting with whoever presides over the entity. There were several vice presidents who are scattered in other countries and we met in the USA. We also put our complaints, right? Regarding the delay in the contract, because it is a very old contract, and also because of the justice regarding royalties, in relation to the sale of shirts. We don't have any royalties, so what we want is equality due to the greatness of Brazilian football”, Ednaldo told Globoesporte.com.
The president, however, also said that they want to continue with Nike and expects that the deal is expanded soon.
“We were very well received and it is within their time (the discussion). We didn't give a deadline. We are partners, whether in love or in pain, so that everything is calm. We have confidence and hope that everything will work out well. We have a contract until 2026 and the expectation we have is that it can be expanded in the near future”, added the CBF president.
