Adidas (Again!) Gives Endless Number Of Teams Same Kit Design

Puma 2019-20 Kits Either Feature Round or V-Collar

While Puma's 2019-20 kits for teams such as BVB, Milan, Man City, Newcastle and Marseille have been mostly appreciated by fans, an overall look at all of them reveals that all of them have one thing in common. They do not feature interesting templates (sleeve / collar) designs.

In fact, all of Puma's 2019-20 jerseys either feature a crew neck or v-collar. We have not seen one Puma kit with another collar design.

This has been not always the case with Puma kits, however. The brand was used to create bespoke kits / templates for their important teams such as Arsenal and BVB, a look in the past reveals. However, since around 2018, this has changed. Now all Puma kits just feature a standard template with mostly tonal graphic prints. We think the reason is that it makes production much more easy and therefore also cheaper.

We believe that it is new Puma ceo Bjørn Gulden who is responsible for that development - the brand spends more money on contracts while trying to increase the margin to increase the profit for the brand as a whole. He talked about his strategy in several interviews.

Most English Puma Teams Get Same Kit Template

In stark contrast to Puma, Nike has designed and produced a lot of bespoke collars for the 2019-2020 campaign. The Swoosh created custom collars for some of their best team's home kits as well as really unique collar constructions for the Nike Sportswear 2019-20 third uniforms.

In 2016, Nike's kits all feature the same, all-new Aeroswift design without any variations in the template.
